The subtle art is a nice refresher for those who are tired of certain situations in their life, or rather those who always feel the need to compare themselves to others or want to achieve everything in life.
Well, instead of saying be 'positive' or 'stay motivated' Mark Manson says screw all that. he teaches us to let go of our addiction to over-achievement and other people's approval. but instead, appreciate whatever little we have.
It is common for us all that we keep struggling to get success and in the process, we forget to live. Mark emphasizes on the fact that; our expectation that life has to always be perfect is the biggest reason for our unhappiness. He says, " the desire for more positive experience is itself a negative experience. And paradoxically, the acceptance of one's negative experience is itself a positive experience."
One has to understand the law of impermanence of nature.
Understand that after each sunny day, there has to be a dark night.
After each birth, their have to be certain deaths. in this imperfection of nature, there is perfection.
So stop taking your failures so intensely because they are not permanent.
This book gave me a true change in the right direction. life is simply beautiful if you accept yourself of who you are. let things go the way they ought to go and do not interfere with them because of what people will think about you. Be you. Do not change yourself for the sake of fitting in! Learn to not give a fuck!
